My husband has always been attracted to smart, good looking women (I consider myself to be one) and he definitely perks up when he is around them. It’s not just how they look, it’s what they talk about. I’m fine with it because I understand why. He might initially perk up because of her looks but if she’s light brained he will move on.

+1. They convince themselves that they like their partners to check out others. It seems immature and desperate to me. Watching your spouse have desire for another and having it pushed in your face sucks. Maybe they have no idea what it’s like to be with someone who just has desire for them. I think that’s unimaginable to them.

Everyone on this site is projecting. It’s not like we all know each other well enough to know what the other person is thinking.

My DH does this too. It makes me uncomfortable. Sometimes I can see that it’s making the woman he is talking to uncomfortable as well. It’s not that it’s terrible that he finds other women attractive, it’s that I’m *right there,* and it’s disrespectful.

So we play a game called “that’s your GF/BF” - it’s always someone unattractive. Occasionally, it’s someone super hot. Recognizing attractive people is not abnormal nor a threat to your relationship.

I love when he turns the charm on while chatting with a hot woman. I love when he comes back from taking the kids somewhere and tells me about all the hot moms he was around. I’d love for him to hook up with them and tell me how awesome they are.

While I don't care for PP's choice of words I do think that sometimes a reaction like your DH's may be due to the smile and air of positivity coming from the waitress, realtor, person who is selling him something. A smile can go a long way and sometimes we forget to give it to those we spend most of our time with. Try it, OP, it can be fun and the reaction can be fun as well.

Maybe seeing attractive people, even if it's only for a few minutes and even if it's nothing personal,, who seem fun and interesting gives him pep.

It could be that attractive-type people are also charismatic, easy going, and just give off a good vibe...enough for a guy to notice especially if he's normally in slouch mode/lazy.

So, more about encountering a peppy personality than physical appearance.
