12:54, is there any way that you can list the marticulation?
I have been trying really hard to find one and it has been unsccessful. The sidwell admission office did not want to share with me either. Thank you?

This is silly. I'm a Landon parent, and I've been to the Azalea Festival. Sure it may not be your particular cup of tea (lots of Lilly Pulitzer dresses and pink and green), but it's a fun event for a lot of people and is always well attended. I haven't noticed any particular bad behavior on the part of the boys other than the usual high spirits generally exhibited by boys (from all schools). It seems like there are some people on this board who are always trying to cast Landon boys as hooligans. Sure there are some poorly behaved boys there, but in my opinion (as someone whose kids have attended more than one school) no more so than anywhere else. There are also lots of polite, well-spoken, bright young men. And they far outnumber the rowdy ones.

They are in Sidwell's alumni magazine too (matriculations, not acceptances).

Maybe someone could just share details of his/her observations and save us the trip, please??

I'm surprised. In my high schools magazine the acceptances to colleges are posted in the spring issue for all to see.

I would like to see Sidwell's SAT average score or the college matriculoation list. I could not find anywhere, so I called the admission office about that and I was told that they do not share the information with others. The cathedral scools openly share the available information with you and that tells me that Sidwell may not be as great as everyone talks.

Yes, go and take a look at the Landon boys behavior during the Azalea Festival--not great.

Well, what is this azalea festival other than a place where one can buy hats with beer slogans? Is it something I need to know about before deciding whether son should apply to Landon next year?

PP here - I apologize for not making this clear, I was responding to the post about alcohol related merchandise at the azalea festival.

I am not sure what to say about the merchandise in question but I will point out that sidwell doesnt have any schoolwide community events like the azalea festival - which not only brings parents, faculty and staff, students, and members of the community together but also raises money for scholarships. So instead of nitpicking the merchandise that outside vendors bring in, why dont you focus on the spirit of the event.

Would you please share any data--academic data--that would support your comments?

Anonymous wrote:These two schools are very opposite--hard to believe this is a legit thread. Landon is all boys, with emphasis on athletics, less academic push. As an earlier poster mentioned--removing the athletic picks from college recruiting leaves Landon with a rather large void. Sidwell is another type school. More academics and co-ed. Great college recruitment.

You are so wrong about this. Yes, Sidwell has higher academic results. But the reality is that there is not a very big difference between the schools academically. Someone said it earlier when they described the perceived delta as over hyped. It is way overblown. Usually by self-actualizing parents or ones with a chip on their shoulder against athletic/alpha male types.
