It was never low risk for unvaccinated kids.
The risk for kids was lower when community transmission was low, do I really need to explain that? Even in states that are exploding now, cases were generally low until the beginning of July.

This. They are behaving unsafely. But so are you, by agreeing to the trip. You are the mom. You can say no. You are putting your unvaccinated kids on a plane and then having your kids stay in a house with unvaccinated kids. There is no way I would put my kids in this position.

I promise if your child joins the more than a thousand American children currently hospitalized with COVID, you are going to feel worse than your brother and sister in law. You have a responsibility to keep your children safe that is more important than what this vacation means to the grandparents.

This whole unvaccinated argument is moot. Everyone transmits the virus if exposed regardless of vax status. Yes the unvaccinated are allowing it to spread more rapidly, but if you Mom get it, you can also spread to your kids. It's not JUST the unvax spreading it. You also put your kids at risk. Have everyone test before the trip and move forward. Or don't go. Period.
Test before the trip and then get on a plane? Makes zero sense.

They are not a)wearing the mask non stop, they are kids it will come off and b) not protected by an Etsy mask, they need a fitted respirator, do you have one?

I understand your anger and the importance of the vacation, but there is cancelling. You can just forfeit your $ and explain to all why you can't go. And then you can go celebrate with grandparents another way another time.
