So the consensus is sub Rodman for Rapinoe and all is well

Time will tell how Rodman progresses.
She certainly should not beat out current USWNT defenders with or without social media

Instead of getting distracted by an aside about social media, I suggest you watch Rodman play.

She's very talented. And she plays up front.

Not PP. I saw her play Sunday at my first Spirit game. I will admit my ignorance that I had never heard of her before the game as I am not up to speed on NWSL players who haven't been through USWNT. She immediately caught my eye. Very talented. Ashley Sanchez was someone else who jumped out at me, and, again, I didn't know about her but looked her up and saw she had a lot of success on the junior USWNT teams. Her game really impressed me. And of course Andi Sullivan, but that is a more established name.

Keep in mind that the NWSL is quickly falling in overall competitiveness compared to its European counterparts. She is very, very talented but showing well here does not mean what it once did. I say this not to dismiss Rodman but to just keep that perspective in the back of ones mind.

I do not care about Rapinoe’s non soccer stuff. I think she did a brilliant job marketing herself. The pink hair is easy to recognize from the stands and TV. Every athlete should get as much as they can when they play. Now as for her performance on the field. In her prime she was a role player surrounded by very talented players.

She is way past her prime. Watch the players around Rapinoe. They are always covering for her. Rapinoe is out of position, turns the ball over with no pressure, is too slow, has a low work rate/does not play defense and defenders do not view her as a threat with or without the ball. Dunn has to work twice as hard to cover for her. Rapinoe should not have started on the last World Cup team. You can keep her on the bench if you like her leadership, etc. Jill Ellis bench her in the one game that was supposed to be a competitive game. The team played better without her. A forward who has more penalty goals vs goals from the field is over the hill.

Trinity is a great talent
I’ve seen her play. A long way to go before she offers more
At 5’10” right now she could be a defender on this team

She relies on finishing others work and does not create like a Heath. So she is just another Morgan or Lloyd with less technique (although it is hard to be less technical than Morgan)

Let trinity make all star in NWSL before she makes World Cup

Trinity reminds of mal.

Maybe in terms of hype, not not in terms of play. Trinity is much more of a passer. She's creative, that's what is so promising.

You like Rapinoe because she is “accurate”? Good grief.
Her replacement played the left wing all game today

Why does she remind you ? does she beat her 1v1 in order to dribble into a 1v2 in the corner all the time???

DP might be great but we need to see her play at this level. Again they did not really bring many younger players in to camp. It seems they just favor the same old same old. The team was old in the last World Cup and won because of lavelle’s midfield play. If lavelle gets injured, they will not get a medal. I do not care about social media accounts.

This is the lineup going forward.

3-4-3

Davidson(2)-Dahlkemper(4)-Sauerbrunn(3)

Dunn(8)-Horan(6)-Lavelle(10)-Williams (5)

Heath(7)-Mewis(9)-Press(11)

Dahlkemper plays at Man City and understands the European game. She will not be caught out of positions.

Dunn speed, technical skill and passing is needed on offense. She is wasted in defense. She is one of the fastest player in the game.

Horan is a physical defender and wins balls in midfield. She will allow Lavelle the freedom to move forward.

Williams is fast and wins balls but lacks something as striker. Better fit as a mid. Her speed and size will help control the midfield.

Heath and Press are a threat and can play well with lavelle. Both also played in Europe this year.

Mewis upfront will scare the sh#t out of defenders. She would be like Haaland up front.

It is every bit as much about old style of play as it is old players.
