You know, it’s interesting that MCPS is choosing to spend money on these types of marketing emails. Almost like they’re ‘recruiting’ videos. Why does MCPS care if students leave? I have no idea why MCPS is spending money on convincing parents to stick with MCPS, but they are.
Which tells me that all of the posters like this PP who say ‘Good riddance’ to the families who want to go private are full of crap. MCPS, at least, doesn’t want too many families to leave. Must be a reason for that.
How much money? Please let us know. How much does it cost to send an e-mail to tell former MCPS parents about MCPS's plans for the fall?
It costs at least $250,000. That e-mail is the full time job of a MCPS administrator with a take home car.
Because it takes that employee all year to make that one video? Please...![]()

Anonymous wrote:They always treated kid with IEPS terribly. Its worse with COVID but for us in person was horrible and virtual was better as we could support that child in classes whereas they had a great IEP stating they'd provide support and never did.
Anonymous wrote:MCPS should focus on smaller class sizes, increasing standards in the curriculum, and improving educational opportunities for students with disabilities. A PR campaign is wasted because students are not ping pong balls. If a parent pulled a child out of MCPS last year and has a private school spot this year, parents are not going to switch back till they see at least a year of improvement in MCPS data. Privates stayed open last year so there is consistency there that people doubt MCPS will deliver.
MCPS doesn’t care about educating students. They just want the tax dollars back that they lost when students went to private. MCPS should fix that issue before students will come back.

I consider it my civic duty and hope Moco’s economy and schools get back to where they once were. The place once was a great place to live! Also they sent me the email...
MCPS was never that great. It wasn't great 30+ years ago when I went. Its overhyped reputation.

Schools get a lot of Federal and State aid that that is paid on a per student basis. Pulling a kid unexpected and last minute the school has same cost to teach those classes but with less students less money. Add in higher performing and more active parents in general who split to private lower test scores and less involved Parents it is a headache.
Private school parents are paying property taxes to support schools they aren’t using. You left out that part of your sob story.

Ugh, they want the federal dollars. That’s all. They are worried about their jobs - as they should be. Utterly disgraceful place, on so many levels - mistreatment of IEP kids top of the list. So glad we moved out of this show...
