DH went to an OOS public university (Oregon), I went to an instate public (Penn State). I have one who graduated from an OOS public and one at an in-state public.

Are these real schools?

Do you really not know where those schools are from? That makes me sad. Millennial? To the PP: well done.

DD: very possibly NOVA. It pains me, but I've found some peace about it. She is not me. She has to forge her own path.

What’s wrong with NOVA? Get a grip. Everyone needs to start somewhere. You’re not being nice.

Lol- I am a UVA alum. But DC got into both SLU and URI this year (along with a number of other schools, including some with better rankings). After much discussion, driving, contemplation, comparison of merit aid, DC chose SLU. DC is very much looking forward to becoming part of the SLU family!

I had tons of fun there! Highly recommend! My DD applied and was accepted with a generous scholarship. She would’ve gone if not for getting into UVA ED.

Kid is going to our local community college. (couldn't get in, no way for us to afford it anyway)

CMU grads not able to afford one private tuition?

Just curious as DS is headed to CMU engineering in a few weeks. He chose CMU over RPI (w 1/2 merit offer) for the reputation and program. This makes me wonder if he should’ve picked RPI for the savings.

NP. Yes, it is indeed possible that someone doesn’t have $250,000 saved for college, regardless of where they attended.

I had no influence on this decision. Kid wanted to apply to the same school as his friends and gf
