OP again. I also love the idea of him getting off at BWI. One of us could easily grab him there as well. SO much easier then a late night into the city

Probably more likely to get jacked on a deserted late night Metro than walking from a fully disembarking train (which is likely to be crowded based on my recent Amtrak experiences), through a station with plenty of police presence, and into a waiting taxi.

The area surrounding penn station in ny is far more sketchy. Im a mom who just got back from there with two young daughters. They are tweens and they are more street savvy. I went to college in nyc and was sad to see how nyc has devolved, crimewise. We saw a guy shooting up right near the station in broad daylight.
I second the bus. Best bus is good. Also, why not stay the night in nyc?
