I do use DND, but if you feel the need to send me non-emergency texts very early or late as a habit, I’ll drop you. It shows that you have a very inflated ego, to think that someone needs or wants to hear from you before sunrise.
DP, I think it's you who has the inflated ego if you expect everyone to know and contact you only with specific hours. Put your phone on silent, and it's no problem. People have different schedules and you/they respond when they can.
Also, why would you assume that someone who is texting you at 7am expects you to respond or read it at 7am? I text at all sorts of random hours with friends, and vice versa, and we all expect that sometimes hours pass between when a text is sent and when it's replied to.
Why would you text, instead of email, if you don't want a quick response?
This!
Text and email are two different platforms for different purposes. One is more immediate.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I think it’s rude to text too early/too late. Your message can wait. Not everyone uses DND. If you have elderly parents or older teens, you tend to keep your phone on.
I have both but turn my phone all the way off. Emergencies are why we keep a landline, if there is a problem with the parents/in laws or teens.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Just curious. Do you send texts at random hours, on the assumption that everyone uses do not disturb?
I’m an early riser, and often try to get stuff done while the rest of the house is still sleeping, but wait to send texts until after 9am.
I shut my phone completely off when I'm sleeping. Why leave it on DND when you can turn it all the way off?
I sleep at conventional hours, so don't text between 11 pm and 7 am without a specific reason.

Anonymous wrote:I text 24/7. I love texting. I usually go through big batches of texts I need to send and if I happen to get the energy to do that at 2AM so be it. I always tell people, text me at anytime, I'll probably get up to respond and I am here if you need me.

My phone is on silent. If you’re the type who thinks I need to know that I need to see a photo of Janie’s ballet recital at 7 a.m. on a Sunday, I’m fine if we fall out of touch.
Same here. Although the texting outside hours is probably just one aspect in which we would conflict.
I view texting in the same vein as calling. 8am - 9pm unless someone is in the hospital. I don’t use DND because my family and friends follow this same timeframe - if anyone tries to contact you from 9pm - 8am, it’s an emergency.
