Anonymous wrote:I think they have a large waitlist because it is really an aggregation of separate waitlists for each school. In previous years, they wouldn't have needed to go past 50. I can guarantee you they will be going outside their top 50 to fill waitlist, because of the per school quota.
They may have needed 1000 to make sure they reach say a waitlist of 10 from every school.

Someone FOIAed this. There are over 1,000 kids on the waitlist.

In prior years, the waitlist was only 50 kids. Why they would give so many kids and their parents false hope is beyond me. It’s just cruel.
I’m glad this company was willing to share what they found.

For one thing, that's a 1000 fewer people who will be complaining for the time being. How are you people taking the WL seriously?
That is false. My DC was in that category (4.0 and Algebra II) and got in, but declined.
That would depend on the middle school. If there weren't enough 4.0 Alg 1 kids and FARM kids to fill 1.5% requirement, they would have had to move on to Geometry or even Alg 2 students. The fact that your kid got in with Geometry, or that some other kid was admitted with Algebra 2 does not disprove the conjecture that FARM and Alg 1 were preferred over Geometry and Algebra 2
That conjecture makes no sense and therefore does not require disproving.
At some point admissions will release statistics of how many students in the incoming class were taking Alg1. It will be a MUCH smaller number than most people on here seem to believe.
