I love the look of waterfall. It wont be dated any more than any other feature in your kitchen. Literally everything has a run life. Pick what you like.

I was just going to add this ! They look EXACTLY the same - only your wallet can tell the difference. Even the maintenance is similar.

Many people like the look, as shown by their popularity. There's no particular reason to thing it's a short-lived trend, but it is expensive. That is probably part of the reason for the wide appeal, like more upscale appliances, cabinets which go to the ceiling, and other features which are recognizably costly.
