Ugh. I keep seeing this and a. Pfizer vaccines (right now the only ones authorized for use in 12-15 year olds) are not even authorized for use in India which is still the main country driving the epidemic at the moment; b. Even if it were authorized, rural India and even many cities do not have the cold chain capacity needed for the mRNA vaccines (even many places in the US don’t have freezers that keep those vaccines cold enough; c. we will not get to herd immunity before newer mutations that are potentially able to evade the vaccine if more people in the US don’t get vaccinated and keeping a large pool of young humans to get and spread it is not a great idea. If you don’t want to vaccinate your kids, so be it, but please don’t say that it’s for moral reasons because the vaccine you don’t give your child isn’t going to magically help someone in India or Brazil.

I’m sorry are people still talking about covid? We had 7 cases in moco today. My neighborhood pool in Bethesda is a damn baccanal and I’m here for it! Bring on the normalcy. The masks will be gone by fall. NYC broke the seal god love them.

Honestly, after this year of closed schools and cancelled activities, I'm done with kids making any sacrifices for the elderly and vulnerable. They have done enough already, and nobody has given a sh*t about their own vulnerabilities.

I will vaccinate my young kids when I am convinced that the benefit outweighs the risk for them. I am not an anti-vaxxer, I went out of my way to get the Covid vaccine myself as soon as possible, and my kids are vaccinated on CDC schedule. I don't listen to internet trolls, I will talk to their pediatrician and evaluate the data. But surely they will not be among the first ones to take the shot under an EUA.

I am tired of people claiming anyone questioning injecting their child with a new vaccine is some anti-vaxxer loon. My DH and I are educated and both got vaccinated as soon as it was available to help protect those around us. Our toddler is not getting a vaccine under EUA for a disease that poses little to no risk to her.

The condescension of your assumption that everyone who has "any reservations" about vaccinating their children is just reading "internet trolls" is really offensive. There are many well-educated, otherwise pro-vaccination parents and a not insignificant number of experts who question whether vaccinating the under 12 set is the right thing to do.
