. So, some of us love rice.

You think the people OP is describing, who eat spaghetti with hot dogs, are “afraid of carbs”?
Are you able to read? Serious question.
OP listed two foods her IL's eat. She didn't say they eat spaghetti with hot dogs.
I have family members who like to eat lower carb. If I serve a meal where the carbs are incorporated (e.g. spaghetti with meat sauce, jambalaya) they'll eat it, but if I serve something where there's a side dish of carbs -- whether that's bread, or mashed potatoes, or rice, they won't take any. It's one way to reduce the calories of the meal.
Yeah. Really odd that people are coming in over and over to post about this supposed combination.
What is actually hilarious is that spaghetti and hotdogs is an Asian dish loved by Filipinos. The combo is super common and is readily available at pretty much any Filipino gathering. 😂

How do I know? My family consists of poor white people who are also weird and raised on poverty food.
I thought rice was poverty food. Like rice and beans. Which I actually like.
