Subject: Pastor's reaction to suicidal thoughts
His/her primary job is your soul. His secondary job is your body. Ideally, he/she says what is said, and then recommends you seek treatment.
But really, what did you expect? I mean pastoral training is most definitively not medical in nature.

I'm so sorry to hear that anyone looking for counsel from a religious leader would be met with such a lack of compassion! Please seek out mental health resources OP (I'm assuming there are legitimate, qualified practitioners who also have a faith-based lens?)

Sorry this happened OP but this is not abuse. Perhaps he could have been kinder and gentler but what he told you was true (in the faith). We may be in the same Parrish as our Paster would be the LAST person I would go to for sympathy. Go to a professional counselor if you need help re: suicidal ideation.
