Nah. Happens all the time to lots of people. Relax.

Same issue here. It's urine. It wicks up the string. Tuck the string inside and try to insert the tampons higher up. There are anatomical differences that can impact proper tampon placement. Not a big deal.

+1 This is the most likely explanation and simplest solution.

The other thing that comes to mind is a fistula, though I'm not sure why you'd be leaking urine only during your period and not other times, and I'd think you'd have other symptoms you'd be aware of.

I pee far more often than my tampon needs changing.

No, you have it backwards. Leaving tampons in too long is a risk for TSS. Removing an underused tampon is not.

Happened to me all the time until I switched to a menstrual cup like 10 years ago.

I have a retroverted uterus too and I have never experienced this.

I have an inverted uterus and this definitely happens to me. I change the tampon each time I pee.

Wow do you people really not grab the string and move it out of the way while you pee? You just let it hang freely and pee all over it??

Hmm. OP here. That’s scary! Yikes

I'm sorry, I don't mean to scare you. But after MIL going through 3 rounds of chemo at stage IVB, ignoring weird discharge for 2 years, just get uterus checked. But most likely it's ph balance or nothing at all. you're pretty young.

Thanks. I made an appointment w/ my doctor, although they didn’t have an opening until end of June.

Good. You will check and it will be fine. But I would not accept a pap smear only. MIL pap was negative and she was told it's nothing. But she pressed for MRI or whatever imaging, and it was IVB. In her 60s though, not 40s.

Omg. You suggest this for pee on a tampon? I am sorry your MIL has cancer. OP has some pee on a tampon.

What are you saying "nah" to?

The conspiracy theory that this is unusual or alarming.

Pulling a tampon out dry repeatedly greatly increases risk of TSS, no? I'd just opt for pad or cup.

+1 I remember reading in Teen or YM magazine (maybe both) that you can pee while wearing a tampon and didn't need to change it. So I didn't change my tampon when I peed. It took a long time to figure out that, yes, the tampon string absorbs urine. I started changing every time I peed and problem solved.

Yes, this is no big deal, really. It happens because sometimes the tampon gets low, especially if you are bearing down when using the bathroom. The hole urine come out of is right in front of the vaginal opening so urine stream goes that direction. Plus the string will absorb urine and it travels up the tampon
