As someone who waited tables in real restaurants, the idea that you would tip the same OR MORE to someone who preps your takeout order when compared to what you tip a waitress is just beyond my comprehension. Preparing take out is basically expo. Are you tipping the drive through staff as well because they take your order, make your drinks if you have any, bag the food and hand it to you? Some of y'all have never actually worked in the food industry and it shows. This same forum has repeatedly said the idea of 20% tips to a waitress feels obligatory even if the service is bad. Do you call the restaurant back for your tip if the food is cold or incorrect or tastes bad?

Does it make you feel better to shame people who might have little spare income and also deserve an occasional treat?
Maybe those people packing your order also have little spare income (particularly during a pandemic when they were out of work for months) and also deserve to be paid fairly? Are all these DCUM posters barely scraping by?

Anonymous wrote:I am shocked that people don’t tip on delivery orders. I tip a min of $10, especially since COVID. Grocery I tip $45-55. I am so grateful for their help.

Over tipping all the times - I have found people who do so are usually not well off but like to keep appearances
It makes them feel “rich” to give money

We rarely tip on takeout, and my standard for the delivery person is $4-5 since the restaurants we typically order from are less than a mile from our house, so it isn't again some massive hardship to drive 3 blocks to drop off a pizza.
