This thread will evolve to “mask v unmasked in the fall.” IMO schools should remain masked until we (I.e., DC metro are) are in the green zone in terms of transmission levels because of high vaccination rates, notwithstanding the lack of herd immunity. I wouldn’t oppose a mandatory vaccination requirement with limited exemptions for 12-18 y/o and teachers/staff.

ATS won’t even have 3 feet distancing next year, they’ve announced.

Get ready for the infection rates to drop drastically in May. As we cross 50% of the entire population being vaccinated at least once, the rates will accelerate downward. Then tweens will become eligible, further accelerating the downward trend. Stop worrying about 3 v 6. Enjoy the show - exponential decline, baby! Hooooah.

They may have been forced to do so.. I wouldn't be surprised if the Gov put pressure on them to announce this independently before he mandated them to do so.. Duran's message certainly had a hint of passive aggressiveness in it and he seemed angry to make this announcement. Rather than celebrating kids finally returning to school full-time.
