And the main college counselor left for Sidwell’s college counseling.

That … literally is not a prank.
Didn’t she leave?
Last year, the board told Episcopal that either the medical director or the head of school had to leave. The medical director ended up leaving...she had her own practice and was working at several other schools anyway...she handled a lot of situations poorly, which is why she was asked to leave and why the students were mad and did that prank. Obviously, not the most mature response, but remember the students are (teenage) high schoolers and had serious issues with this woman.
Did her husband leave too? That would be sort of awkward to live in a house on campus after being asked to leave!
Does the husband work at the school too?
Yes, the husband works there as well. She left but he did not. Their daughter attends the school, and as previously mentioned, they live in one of the biggest houses on campus for free.
What type of job does he do there? Do they comp all of the staff with homes on campus?
He is a math teacher/department head. On campus housing for faculty ranges from apartments to houses. It's pretty easy for faculty to get housing on campus, but if you choose not to, I believe they add more to your salary for rent.

Hubby is a math teacher - not dept head.

No, her husband did not leave. You're right, it's very awkward!! Their daughter attends the school which is why I assume they stayed. In regards to the article, only a very small group of students do hard drugs. I would say around half of the students drink, but hard drugs are far from the norm at Episcopal. The kids involved with hard drugs are not popular and have little sway over other students. Really, the party scene is not much different from other schools, except everyone lives together so people see drinking antics more often even if not involved, which makes it seem like there's a bigger problem than there is.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:My DC attended and is a recent graduate. It is a great education, but the kids are pretty horrible to one another. The social life was seriously HARD CORE and lots of pressure to wear high end brands. I would never send another child there for this reason. Also, tons of drugs and sex starting in 9th grade. Parents may deny this, but my DC tells me everything - even where the kids go on campus to hook up and have sex. Yes, it is more than at local day schools.
Wait . . . haven't I read this novel before?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What is episcopal like from parents/students who have attended there? Did you like it, why? Do episcopal students normally hangout with other dmv private/public schools? Thanks!
I heard from someone who attends that their football games start like clan rallies - people in hoods, burning torches.
