Like all clubs, VRSC has some coaches who are better than others. If you don't know somebody on the team (whose opinion you trust) and you're considering moving there, I'd find out when/where the team practices and go watch to see what you think of it. You're attending tryouts (which is good) but I'd still try to watch a practice when maybe the coaches aren't actively in "recruiting new players mode".
We moved our younger DC to VRSC after a bad experience at another club and for what DC wants out of soccer (to have fun, win a game occasionally, etc.), it's fine. The coach is very "enthusiastic" about soccer and overall, the players seem to like him/her. However, this particular coach isn't a great technical coach and a few of the parents have grown frustrated with that. VRSC is still a young club and I know that they've hired some more coaches for the fall so I expect that things might be different as the coaching staff continues to grow.
Good luck to your DD!

The team definitely looks like it's improved since it used to be second to last in odsl a few years ago. I'm not saying they are amazing I'm just saying they appear to be okay or a little better than mediocre.
Or does anyone have a son or daughter playing for vrsc that can tell me how it is.

My DD plays at VRSC and she enjoys it (she likes her coach a lot). There are actually two teams in the 2007 age group. My daughter's team occasionally scrimmages the top 2007 team and I think they're "pretty good". They do seem to win a lot of their games but I don't know how good the teams that they play are. They play in NCSL now if that helps you at all. If you're thinking about switching, you should contact the club and I'm sure they'd invite you to a practice so you can see things for yourself.
What age group is your DD? We’re an 05 looking to leave our club. Mainly because it has spiraled negatively in the last 4-5 years and the coaching has become a farce. We would like to have someone who is knowledgeable and experienced and a club that is supportive and conducive to growth and development.
DD is a 2006 but the 2006 and 2005 players practice together and have the same coach (who we like). If you're considering a change, I would definitely suggest reaching out to the club about attending an 05 practice so you can see for yourself what it's like. The 2005 team plays in NCSL (division 2, I *think*) so you can see their upcoming game schedule online at the NCSL website. You could always go to one of their games and see what you think of the team/coaching and then decide if you think it's worth attending a practice or not. Good luck finding the right place for your DD!

And Barca. And Evergreen. And ODFC. And Sterling (boys). And Leesburg FC. Not to mention Herndon, Great Falls/Reston, Chantilly, SYA, and Dulles FC all in western Fairfax close to much of eastern Loudoun.
Despite all these rivals and the challenges (many of them unethical) presented by the neighboring technical directors VRSC is still growing with no end in sight.
Whatever they’re doing they’re doing it right. To claim otherwise is simply naive or outright ignorant and cynical.
In 3 years of existence they’ve already sent a kid to DC United. People dismissing or downplaying a club like this is exactly why it is growing the way it is.
Can any of the neighboring clubs, except FCV, claim such development?
Um, Loudoun and the other P2P clubs send multiple kids to DCU every year. You must be new.

This is a HUGE hit to FCV. Marvin is the very best. Very popular, huge following, great coach. I wish the best to him in his new adventures!
Marvin is a loss for sure. Huge hit? No. He mainly coached the 2nd and 3rd teams with an occasional cover for the GA. FCV also hire Tom Torres to take his place. Outstanding hire by FCV.
Outstanding?? No way. Tom couldn't win a Wash Spirit DA game so save his life. They had to fold the club! He is a nice person but a terrible coach. I would be he is a volunteer. I mean seriously - he has a losing record. Just like FCV.
Tom had an uphill battle at Spirit Va. The teams were better when he was there.
And if his record is like FCV, he is a winner. FCV wins, plain and simple. People can bash all they want, but the club wins and sends kids to play in college arguably as good or better than any club in the area.
I disagree. He had great players at Spirit - he couldn't coach them. FCV USED to have a good record. Now they perform poorly in showcases, etc. The only real losers are the kids really. And the parents that pay all the money for nothing.
Well we’ll agree to disagree. Spirit was bad, really bad. They did not have the best players. Never have.
