We ( I am OP) no longer think those values are there for the taking with McLean. We have been complicit in supporting the club even when we were wary of what was going on, but this is the breaking point.
In our estimation, organizations which take money from parents for their children need to be transparent and honest. The favoritism we saw before (our child was a not losing playing time but it was obvious what was going on) was a concern, but this broke the camel's back.
You don't make a sweepin announcement like this in the middle of a season and have people worrying about having their child displaced, their coach displaced etc. It is a bad organization.
Again this is just our perspective and yes there were sour grapes, but we will just try something else. Best of luck to those who stay. My older kids had a good experience e with McLean, but that was then, this is now
OP I understand your perspective and as someone who lived through other club drama, I get it. However, you state you don’t want this announced mid season. When would you like the club to make these announcements? In May/June after other club tryouts are done? After MYS families already pay for next year? Now is when all the clubs are making plans for next year. They have to announce coaching skates, let those coaches hold tryouts and select players. Then players register knowing their coach, league, and teammates for the upcoming year. It’s tryout season and this type of stuff always drops in April/May. It’s uncomfortable those last couple of games of the spring season for sure
Great point. At another club we went through a coaching change after tryouts completed and deposits were made. Caused a lot of animosity with families because that’s not what we signed up for. Give them a little credit for getting it out there while families still have time to evaluate options.

Anonymous wrote:The original poster’s rationale is a little hard to follow. McLean girls team seem to do well and their crest has a bunch of stars over it for what I think are national championships. Coaches have left McLean over the years just like every other club. This SYC alliance should make the club stronger on both boys and girls side if managed well. That is always a big if, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that they know what they are doing.

I think it is because even they don't know what is going to happen. Last night the 2006 boys had an ID session and NOT A SINGLE SYC player came. Aren't they the #1 team? Supposed to save McLean boys program? Meanwhile a million SYC girls are showing up from first, second, third teams trying to get spots. They need to put out the coaching slate, discuss maximum roster sizes for each age and tell parents when these decisions will be made.
SYC Boys have no interest in being part of McLean or ECNL crazy travel and fees. What's the benefit for SYC boys there????
I agree. ECNL type structures should not start until U15 or U16. If it's about getting into college then why put 12 year olds in it? I just don't see the benefit. It's the same kids in the same areas playing soccer no matter the team or league.
Ha wait to hear this, ECNL showcase in South Carolina next month for U13 and U14s. With the purpose of? Recruiters are not even attending older ages showcases.
to show how weak McLean really is, which is why they are begging clubs to send kids their way.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:To play other teams outside your state.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I agree with OP. Purpose of making you believe your money is well "invested"
What a joke!
