I do this, along with once in a while yelling "yay, (random team member name inserted)". Mainly so people would think I'm paying attention and actually understand the game, which I'm not and I don't. Guess I'm not fooling anyone

Oddly, in my experience the yelling at girls’ soccer games is much more than at boys’ games.

Ha! As a MexAmer, I concur. Whoever came up with that crap does not speak Spanish.

What’s a MexAmer?

Is it worse when the moms do it? Especially when they yell clueless stuff, like “great kick” for a long but pointless kick to nowhere.

My husband did this - FOR YEARS. I told him about it and he thought he did better but he didn’t. I finally gave up and didn’t sit near him during games and just let him embarrass himself.

He is absolutely not the worst and our club is already very low key with that kind of unwanted participation (not how I grew up with parents yelling and roaring as a fun past time). He acknowledges that others yell too much and get into a coaching role when they shouldn't but sees himself as "rallying" the team and positively hyping them with a dash of directions...NO I just wish he would shut his mouth. I already keep the game time to myself until the last moment in hopes something else busies him but he asks repeatedly and clears his usually busy schedule to go. He is driving me so crazy!! Its unnecessary for him to do anything but his already ample clapping. Any tips on how to reach someone who sees the flaws in the other dads but not himself?

I would be willing to stand in as your escort if you would consider leaving hubby at home. I am a suave, sophisticated, handsome and distinguished gentleman capable of quietly appreciating the beautiful game while seated next to you in joyful companionship. Just give me the nod, and I'll be there.

Lol. I’m Hispanic and soccer is in our blood to the point where even my mother (ds’ grandma) is yelling from time to time. My son plays in a predominantly latinx club and we are “THAT” club lol. Just can’t help it. It’s really about the kids experience. Most kids hate parents yelling. But the kids on my ds’ current team seem to thrive off the pressure. They do very well in EDP division one.

My daughter’s team played against a Hispanic team in the championship game. All the parents were so loud, yelling, etc. It made the game so much more fun, exciting and enjoyable. My daughter really thrived off from it even though it came from the other team’s parents.

I have boys. These Clubs are the worst.

Physical fights on the field. Parents standing on the field. Death threat to the ref...followed him to the car.

My blonde gringo husband worked in Venezuela and Colombia and the profanity and insults they hurl at KIDS and the ref is awful.

This isn’t cute. It’s ridiculous.

Maybe they don’t end up in multiple red cards and serious injury and parents escorted off the field like with the boys.

And —this just happened again last weekend. It’s f@cking Covid —back the h@ll off the field.

Yep that happens too lol. Parents show up with Coronas in their little coolers. It is what it is. I never heard death threats, but perhaps it’s true. It’s definitely not for the feint of heart.

The family that made a death threat was kicked out of the Club and with 3 red cards we had to play with 8 players in the Final.

That’s awful. What club is this?

but maybe if we all start yelling and cursing like the colombians and the agentines, the USMNT will one day play in the world cup again?

A husband that yells and a wife that post about it.

How about you talk to him in the privacy of your home without your kids around.

From behind the goal even better.

We had a dad do this to his goalie kid. It was uncomfortable for all within earshot. His wife looked like she wanted to crawl in a hole. I'd bet money he is abusive at home the way he was acting on that field. He seemed completely comfortable loudly berating his 9YO's every. move.

I know a dad like this and it did cause big issues in the marriage.

Ya’ll need to go to some competitive basketball and baseball games. All the families are like the Latino families described earlier in this thread. This ain’t golf bruuhh. This is competitive team sports.
