PP had an excellent point about the area being conformist, not woke. Half of these rich white people would fly a Confederate flag instead of posting a BLM sign if a quorum of their friends did. If spouting “woke” cliches got you fired or cancelled these same people would have Laura Ingraham’s politics. These same people look down on Bernie voters almost as much as they do on Trump voters. Blue MAGA is what their proper term is, not “woke.”

+1. As a conservative in Arlington, Biden and BLM type signs are everywhere and everyone is here is an elitist progressive conformist. Facebook has slowed down since Biden was sworn in, but kids parents at our public school will scowl at you if they know you voted for Trump. Most don't know I am conservative, I just stay quiet to keep the peace.

I have lived in DC my entire adulthood and talk about politics constantly - this is a city full of educated expats, model-UN trophy winners, college debaters with 99.5 percent of all lawyers who have an undergraduate political science degree.

Literally have never talked politics with my neighbors. They are a mix of lawyers, government office drones, military and others with clearances, a few lobbyists, contractors, small biz owners, retirees, etc. Literally - never talked politics once.

Even among our friend group, we don’t talk politics. The only one who wants to desperately “talk” politics AT me is my Fox News-watching in laws. And they bring it up at the most inappropriate times, just to be a pain in the ass. No, I don’t want to discuss BLM with you right before we are about to say Grace at dinner while I try to wrangle my kid in his high chair....wtf are you thinking?

    Well, that’s great actually, I agree with this person’s non ideal aspects of wokeness. Looks like there is sufficient number of people on the same page.

    That's fine, I just don't want it to be rabidly politically active blue-only neighborhood. We had lived in blue cities and come from a very progressive one and I am quite liberal.     You’ll want to move outside the beltway for sure. I think I saw two Trump signs total in Arlington. A lot more out in Loudon county. I do not consider myself ‘woke’ and I’m not even really sure what that means, but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere near any Trump signs. I’m sure there are some Republicans in my neighborhood, but I certainly don’t want to hear about it.


    Psst. You do live near Trump voters, you just don't know it. Hint: We're the nice ones who always smile at you.

Unless you're a political appointee/hire, politics doesn't come up that much more in DC than it would in any other city.
