This. I used to really like Teigen but the disclosure of her DMs to Stodden were so disturbing that I’m totally turned off. She encouraged a young person to lull themselves - what in the actual fu!k?!? Sure, my twenties weren’t my moral high ground and I did (and still do) things I regret. But encouraging a stranger, someone who clearly could have used support and kindness, to lull themselves is just beyond the point of acceptable. It’s disgusting. And the disclosure from Stodden that Teigen never reached out directly to her despite claiming she did, is icing on the cake.

She’s only sorry the story got too big this time for her to ignore...there was nothing stopping Chrissy from apologizing all the other times Courtney brought it up.

I don't think you can ignore the slut-shaming aspect to this. This was 10 years ago, before #MeToo, etc. and Teigen wasn't the only one. It doesn't excuse it, but let's be honest here. I think if Chrissy Teigen was currently a brand ambassador or associated with something other than herself, you'd see calls for her to be ousted. You can't really oust someone from their insular life with their husband and kids.

Chrissy was clearly an adult when she wrote those texts. Mean, awful human being. Her PR must be killing unfavorable stories.

You’re thinking of Conrad Roy and Michelle Carter (she did serve time BTW). I think the difference is that Michelle had a personal relationship with her victim and was aware when Conrad was undergoing the act and she didn’t call 911 or anyone for help. If you’re throwing everyone in jail for telling a stranger on the internet to kill themselves, then that’s a slippery slope. I do agree with you that it was a disgusting thing for Chrissy to do, but I’m not cancelling her over it.
