We mandate the vaccine in our small business but have a couple of employees with medical exemptions. If she provides you with a letter from her doctor, you need to back off IMO.

That leaves me wondering if people are forcing a new vaccine — that comes with multiple unknowns — on their employees— when they haven’t gone through the process of being vaccinated themselves. If this actually is the case, it’s a dynamic that feeds into a history that has some people used as guinea pigs while others have the benefit of taking their time to get whatever information they feel they need to make an informed decision without being coerced.
It’s not the case. We got vaccinated and arranged for our nanny to be vaccinated soon after.

My nanny ended up being very sick and of course I gave her paid time off (4 weeks), but I’m still frustrated bc our nanny caught covid by eating an unmasked meal with someone who had a known exposure. I obviously can’t force anyone to be vaccinated, but it’s now a required condition of employment. So far I have arranged for my cleaning person and nanny to be vaccinated.
To those of you trying to argue that it doesn’t matter bc the nanny will just be dealing with kids, one of my kids is still dealing with bad covid issues and it has now been 3 months. This is not a gamble anyone should take.

Of course you can! Businesses all over the country are mandating covid vaccines now. You can absolutely get fired for refusing to get vaccinated.
Let's see how the litigation goes on this one shall we? You might be taking advantage of the fact that your nanny won't have the time and resources to litigate but there are those employees out there who will. I am supportive of the vaccine but getting fired for not getting an Emergency Authorized one is too much.
