OP here — none of my kids friends are in person, which was one reason we opted for DL. If our school said they’d have in person 4 days instead of 2 with block scheduling, we likely would have choose it. We were hoping it wouldve been an option sooner. Our 7th grader especially doesn’t do well with school disruptions and gets anxious about the school setting (he’s seen some not so great crap in school including a couple “pranks” sending classmates away in an ambulance!). So DL it was for him. There have already been some disruptions at school since in person started. shrug in person is just not in the cards for us this year.

The good news is he has 3 in person extracurriculars.

Yep, because it’s just that simple! #sarcasm

Does anyone not get straight A's in MCPS?

It seems almost impossible not to if your kid is doing anything.

How do college admissions work when everyone has the same grades?

Grades are a joke in MCPS. Kid had As first semester, even if a B Q3, and a C Q4 it would equal a B for the semester and an A for the year. Anyone can phone it in and get a C.

College is not going to reject anyone from going from As to Bs, or even As to Cs last semester

DCPS is not offering any option but virtual at my kids' middle school. They've brought back about 10% of students district-wide.
It sucks.

That does suck and I’m sorry.

I did First day back. My kid just texted me that it was horrible. She’s probably switching back to “DL” next week. But she’s a senior so she doesn’t care anymore. Nor do I.

This is my second semester senior too. And same sentiment from us as well. I'm just hoping he doesn't get too used to it and brings it back up for college in the fall!

Yep. Senior here. Same situation. She’s basically done. DL is a s#%^ show. Phoning it in to keep grades good enough to keep her college spot. Fine with me.
