All this free ranging is very dangerous especially now.
The chances a man would wrestle a pepper spray from a young girl and use it against her are high. Why would a 13 year old girl be in the park after dark??
You are an asshole, victim-blaming piece of crap.
Oh, I was blaming her parents. I am 43 and I don’t walk in parks after dark without my dog. And I am trained in martial arts.

Do you keep it abstract? Do you share news stories like this? Do you talk about what to do if someone approaches you or attacks you?
This is why I don't let mine wander alone.
A 13 year old could be in 8th grade. Meaning high school in a few months.
A 13 year old will be driving in 3 years.
If your kid plays sports or does an after-school club, it is reasonable to expect that she can safely walk home at 6:30-7:00pm.
It is insane to think that a female, here in the United States, a first-world country, can’t walk home in the evening safely.
THAT is the problem. Not the fact that some parents allow their 13 year old girls to walk home at 6:45pm.
Even so, my teens will not be out alone.
That doesn’t make them rape-proof.

I'm sure a bunch of "boy moms" are going to bitch at me, but it's interesting how we think girls need to police their behavior but when it comes to boys we all shrug and say it's normal. If you don't want your son to sexually assault someone stop letting him out by himself at night.

Most caring parents teach that to their boys. The question is what are you going to do about your mean girls?
How many "mean girls" rape/assault boys?

Are you for real? What’s with the antagonism toward ‘boy moms’?
Maybe you should go find this young man’s mom and tell her she was a poor parent.
This man was in his 20s.
This has nothing to do with moms on DCUM letting their 13 year old boys ride bikes in the neighborhood.
Yes, I'm for real. Yes, his father and his mother were shitty parents. According to the OP we don't know his age. This has everything to do with parents raising shitty boys, like I said instead of telling girls they can't go outside at night why don't we tell boys they can't go out at night? Girls are told every day how to avoid assault so honestly it's kind of funny that people flip out when you demand some accountability from boys. The people who cause the problems should be the ones who are kept inside.
