It seems a weird choice for a DC metro kid unless they got lots of merit aid or FA. I can see the appeal for kids in other parts of the country who want to experience DC.

How did admissions go to AU this year?

How obtuse can you get? You have to look at who's applying and who's getting in. At AU the mid SAT range is 1220 to 1380. At GWU it's 1310 to 1440. That's a pretty big difference.

You need to figure out the true meaning of "obtuse" before you use it again.

That wasn’t me -that was from the quote taken from page one or two.

Also, prepscholar has the GPA needed to get in at American at 3.56, but for GWU, it's a 3.86. So all else being equal, you will have a higher stats student body at GWU and it's clearly more difficult to get into.

Me too! I moved here after college in the ‘80s and heard the exact same thing.

I know two young people who went to American, both the undergrad business school, and I have a good impression of American from their experiences and outcomes. One was an intern on my team and then hired full time. He's a rockstar, one of the best entry level people we've had. His focus was marketing and info systems & technology. The other, son of a friend, was an accounting major and seems to be very successful. He grew up in the DC area, the other one was from OOS but both seemed to enjoy their time there.

Maybe, but only if the went to law school elsewhere. AU Law is not nearly as well regarded as Georgetown or GW.

sorry your snowflake wasn't accepted

What? That school isn't even on my snowflake's radar. Even Radford and UMD would be above American...

And you think the name Maryland isn’t a vestige of colonialism. Got it.
