I don’t think it’s a great idea. It’s pretty high in calories for a small serving. 2/3 cup serving is around 300 calories…and most people are having probably closer to 1 cup, which would be over 400 calories. Then factor in most ice cream brands are made with corn syrup, palm oil, and artificial flavors and preservatives and it I would say it isn’t good to have it daily. Unless you are making it and/or having a very small portion

This is gonna blow some DCUM minds, but for years—probably between the ages of 35-45—I drank wine AND ate ice cream every night (not at the same time, though) and I’m super thin.

I don’t eat it every single night anymore. My appetite has changed in my late 40s. But ice cream is so good!

Not weird, but if you are a woman and haven't hit menopause yet you might eventually find that the sugar starts to mess you up (e.g., sleep wise, weight gain, unuusally high appetite, etc.), especially evening/late night sugar. Ask me how I know!

I think it is very common.

My grandparents had a bowl of it every night. They would call it their "nice cream." I don't like ice cream, so never picked up the habit.

It can’t be any worse than all the nitwits who swear they’re being smart & healthy drinking “pure” orange juice and dessert yogurts like Noosa every morning. Both are just sugar bombs.

Personally I’d rather drink my calories with good wine or a stiff high end cocktail than stuff my face with ice cream every night.

Ice cream every night is fine. Are you using a proper ice cream serving bowl or cup from the 1950s? Serving size matters here.

Also consider making your own ice cream by hand if you love it so much that way you know what's in your ice cream and what you are eating vs mass produced ice cream!

She gets up at 4:30am every day, works out hard for an hour, then grades papers, etc., goes to work (middle school teacher), comes home , takes a hike then has dinner and then a very large bowl of ice cream EVERY night. She is super slim and fit.

I would cut off a hand to have this much energy.

Anonymous wrote:My incredibly lean grandparents who died at 97 and 96 ate ice cream together every night for literally decades. They also drank a glass of chocolate milk as an afternoon snack each day.

My family farms and make a proper dinner every night, including dessert. No one is overweight.

DH and I have a sweet snack every night. Still not overweight.

Enjoy your ice cream and don’t worry.

This is pretty shocking.

Any doctors on here want to comment?

Yes.

I'm shocked to see this many people eating it nightly! How much do you eat in a sitting?

When my father had triple by pass at a pretty young age, I asked the doctor after what i should or shouldn't eat a lot of and the number one answer? Ice cream. I was eating a pint a day and in great shape. You can't always see the dangers fatty foods promote.

One of the problems in many ice creams is the emulsifiers, which damage the gut lining and cause inflammation.

Have you tried lactose free ice cream?
