An interesting question is, why wouldn’t you? It’s kind of shocking that someone your age - middle aged- would be so close minded to dating someone who has lived two or three or five years more than you. Are you so conservative, or into gender stereotypes, or obsessed with younger women, that the idea or reality of dating someone older than you is so difficult? This is a serious question. Do you just want a better looking body or face? Is it a status thing? Or do you want a real relationship with another person, who might have a few more wrinkles than you and happen to be born a couple years before you? Some people are so narrow minded, despite all of their years of education or lived experiences. Many of the guys like you are also fathers and daughters. How do you reconcile the fact that you tell your daughter her worth is more than her body and her face and her age, and then you yourself can’t look beyond those same things when you’re forming relationships? Not talking about dating someone 10 years older than you, I’m talking about the fact that you seem to be proud not to consider anyone a couple years older than you.

I’ve got an older (70s) friend who has dated men 5-25 years younger than she is. Never older. It’s not necessarily about “hotness”, more about flirtatious energy.

80-20 rule. 20% of the decent women or men are getting 80% of the dating pool available to them. A good looking and put-together 50 year old can easily get a younger date. They are more likely the exception not the rule at this point, simply because a lot of people in their 50s have really fallen apart.

NP. I've known only two women in their 20s/30s who have "dated" much older men. I would say that the daddy issues trope rings true. I will add that they had low self esteem and these men obviously used them.

Eh. My brothers both married much younger 15 and -20 years younger women. Both marriages are going on 20 years. Back in the beginning, I thought these girls were after money and that my brothers couldn't engage/wouldn't impress women their own age. Now, I see that they have solid, loving relationships. You can't know someone's motivations, and people love who they love.
