I was listening to the Yale Admissions podcast and the admissions officer was saying that somewhere in his region, he drove by a big, lit up billboard sign by the high school bragging about one of the kids whom he had admitted getting in, and he talked about how much they hate when high schools do that.
Our HS does that too. It's not the best school, but has a few kids going to the elites each year. This year, the top 2 are going to Harvard and Brown and you see it on display all over the place. I get that it raises the profile of the school and that matters a lot for the administration, but the top schools don't like it.
I realize this is a slightly different topic; just sharing.
