I cringed during the trailer. Bratty teen doesn't understand that teachers don't get to pick the curriculum, but she carelessly calls out the teacher anyway so she can signal her wokeness to everyone.

She was bratty because he was talking down to her about not being able to handle the class.

I didn't view it that way at all. He said he didn't expect her to have read the book already because she didn't have the syllabus yet.

You needed to watch more than the trailer. He explicitly states that he would understand if she needed to drop down to a lower level class, because it's probably too advanced for her.

I think it really depends. I drank throughout high school, smoked weed, and had sex. My friends did other drugs too, which I wasn’t into. I was also a competitive athlete and yearbook editor. There’s a big range. Now I am a pretty low key adult.

When I was in HS, my psycho boyfriend stalked me there. He beat me up in the parking lot once. I skipped school frequently. My friend was expelled for bringing a gun to school. I dropped out and got my G.E.D. without informing my parents (forgery). This was in an UMC area.

This depends a lot on the school. And I would hope that teachers and departments have some say to not choose overwhelmingly white male authors.

I'm a language arts teacher who has no say over curriculum. Take your curriculum complaints to the district.

I may have missed it, but I couldn't figure out what the deal was with Austin's dad or why Kenny was killed (just the money?).

We don’t know much about Austin’s dad, Gil. Apparently she framed him for embezzlement and he’s in jail.

She didn’t like the way Kenny looked at Ginnie.

Well Taylor Swift is mad over the joke about her, so this show will be over...

Georgia's neighbor and friend is played by the actress who was Jocelyn Schitt!
