Upstaged by that dress? No. Something else is going on.

Not wearing black to a wedding is a southern thing not a northern thing.

Who avoids black at a wedding?!

Traditionally wearing black was your way of showing you didn't approve of the wedding. Indicated you were in mourning, not celebrating the event.

MIL wore black to our reception. I wore red to her funeral.

There must be more to this story. Did you perform a jitterbug solo in the dress? Why did the bride feel upstaged?

Wow, you must be a really unhappy person to feel the need to be so rude to a stranger. I’ll pray that your life improves for you. Best wishes.

Totally what I was thinking. I don’t mean to be unkind but what bride feels upstaged by someone wearing a plus size dress that is pretty simple? Is the bride a big gal? You mentioned losing some weight. Maybe you got lots of attention for your weight loss and that’s what made her feel upstaged?

You ARE being unkind. What an awful thing to say. I bet OP looked fabulous and is probably far better looking than you with your bottle blonde hair and ratty yoga pants.

Yeah um... plus sized women can be attractive too. You phrase your comment like it is impossible to feel upstaged by someone who is bigger. That’s really messed up.

Op here, I lost weight but I’m still plus sized. I’m about a 16 now. Was a 22. Bride is around a 4 or 6.

But honestly, this seems made up who they heck would call their cousin with this nonsense on their honeymoon?

OP called her and ASKED her if she could wear black. Let's stop debating if black was appropriate or not, the bride okayed it.

Was everyone else at the wedding in jeans?
