But my two that I kept in FCPS are in AAP & above grade level before the pandemic & my husband and I both have post graduate degrees & teaching experience ourselves, so I never really have being below grade level concerns even though I don’t like the virtual school format as a general matter.

Yes, having them zoomed into our homes has really unmasked the weak teachers.
From what I hear, zooming into homes has also really unmasked the weak parents.
I kinda agree with that. The sanctimonious supermom in our social circle had a complete meltdown in October. Lots of ranting on FB and sending group texts. I think I’ve recognized her as the OP of a couple DCUM threads. And she doesn’t even have little kids. She has a 6th grader in a magnet program and a ninth grader on the same magnet program as my DD.
Despite her claims of being a highly engaged parent and crushing it as a GirlBoss, it’s obvious that she was not used to checking that her kids turned in work or studied.
You don’t come off too well in your telling of this story either. You sound very judgy.
Almost this entire thread is judge. But really just following her playbook for the past 11, almost 12 years. I’ve largely been spared her criticism because she wanted certain things from me, but she has really been scathing in her treatment of other parents that she thought were not prioritizing education over other aspects of their lives. As soon as she was asked to prioritize education, she turned her venom on MCPS. The funniest part is that her image of doing so much better than anyone else financially also fell apart as she had to admit she couldn’t afford even Catholic school when people told her about openings.
have you considered not being friends with someone you hate?
DP...This reminds me of the "Queen Bee" mom in the neighborhood. Everyone knows her, she's always posting on social media . She's not that nice.
Oh yeah. These people exist. What I dohn't understand is is getting fixated on someone you hate and then being frenemies for literally a dozen years.
She’s not my friend. As I said, she’s in my social circle. Our kids go to school together.
still, you seem to think a lot about her and let her bother you. almost certainly you could interact with her less. probably you haven't interacted with her during the whole pandemic, and yet she's still in your mind. this is not how a healthy person would deal with this situation...for TWELVE years.

I love when they're like "but we need it for lesson planning!" Maybe you didn't sign up for a pandemic but you sure as hell signed up for lesson planning outside of teaching hours.
Actually no. The contracts specify planning days on top of regular planning periods. Know your facts.
