I do too! Former librarian trying to figure out what I want to do next. Loved working in an academic library, but pay in the DC area has not kept up with inflation, so would not recommend.

I absolutely found fulfillment and purpose in being a SAHM. Those were the best years of my life and the most meaningful. Now that my kids are older, I am wondering what my next act should be.

In what way could a parent have helped you? Was there a way a parent could have been firm with you that would have helped your journey?

I’d like to know how many INFJs here have found fulfillment and purpose. And if you have, what is it? I struggle with having lots of varied interests but have never buckled down and really mastered any. Nor would any translate to a career or friendships, necessarily. I taught at the high school level for years before feeling burned out. Now (well, 5 years later lol) I’m unsure of what my next move should be.

That’s true of me except I’m INTJ/INFJ. I have one friend from middle school I talk to a few times a year and see every few years. That’s pretty much it for real relationships besides DH and family. There have been maybe 3-4 people in the last few years I felt I could become close to, but didn’t for various reasons - they moved, our husbands had a falling out, etc.

We take A LONG time and sometimes do not find the friend or SO due to our perfectionism and miscommunication issues. We can have a lot of superficial friends but no close ones. Being loners or loving our alone time can make us comfortable being single for a long time.

I am curious at what ages other INFJs married? And how did you meet?

I think that's a different type ..INTP, or similar. Infjs have deep relationships, just not superficial ones

I am on the border of INFJ and ENFJ.
I am married, one kid and I work in the domestic violence prevention field.

I'm a housewife and soon to be stay at home mom. Though I'm extremely introverted, I love spending time with my family. I am a hardcore perfectionist and have an anxiety disorder. It is manageable at this point in my life but high school and college were a struggle. Surroundings are very important to me and I crave beauty and peace. My husband is an extroverted litigator fwiw.

I am INFJ and am all of the above things as well. This has been so fun reading everyone’s description like it was myself. I wish all of us weirdos could meet but I think we are too introverted for that : ). I will say that I am deeply empathetic to the point it is painfully draining. I can pick up on strong sadness emotions particularly and I will feel crushed as well. I also sense when bad things are coming. Just as an example, I spent the good month of February last year weeping and unable to sleep - and then March hit and I knew why. I wish I could protect myself better from these emotions. The pandemic itself hasn’t been hard on me personally but I worry deeply about all the people negatively impacted.
