I think most of the Republican candidates are for open schools. Kirk Cox who has a lot more experience (and has been a teacher) is pro-open also.
Most Democrats are pro-opening too. If you want to try to make this a partisan issue.
Good point. However based on the voting that's been done on bills in the general assembly so far, most Democrats are for allowing localitites to chose whether or not to open. Most Republicans are for forcing localities to open. It's a difference that matters.
I don't believe, for example, that Terry McAuliffe has come out saying he will push the VDOE to require in-person instruction.
On Tuesday, both Fairfax and Loudoun will decide whether or not to go back to school in March. Loudoun will say Yes. Fairfax will probably say Yes, but I'm less confident about that.
The issue will soon be moot (probably). And in general, we don't want Richmond micromanaging schools in Nova, whether Republican or Democrat.
+1 just enough to appease Richmond and give (false) hope to parents, BUT they'll conveniently change their mind the day before, justify it with excuses about not enough teacher vaccinations, need more time for health mitigations to go in place, and whatever else they SB can come up with....They'll pull the run out from under all of us once again.
Fool me once, shame on me.
Fool me twice (and more), shame on you.

“We’re doing something unprecedented in this campaign. We’re actually working with the Open Fairfax, Open Loudoun, Open Prince William movements and all throughout Virginia,” he said. “We’re going to take on obstructionist school board members who are standing in the way, putting unions ahead of children, and we’re going to recall them.”

He’s got my vote.
Eh,..
keep in mind that of course he's going tout this sentiment. He's looking to connect with voters, tap onto their riled up emotions and the like.
I wouldn't hold my breath too much.
Northram wants kids back in school too and you saw how that fell on the deaf ears of the SB.
+1
JFC how gullible are you, PP. I'm always amazed by otherwise bright people who can fall so quickly for riled up rhetoric of charlatans.
