Solid U13 matchups.
Bethesda U13B I think finished at the top of MLSNext League against DC United, SYA, Achilles, Armour, etc in the Fall. Very strong team. VDA and Richmond United were strong ECNL team's but Bethesda will probably win both of those games. McLean was at the bottom of ECNL so not much of a challenge.
Not sure how you could think that Bethesda finished at the top as I don't think scores or standings were posted for MLSNext U13B. Also, DC United does not have a U13B side. I would be surprised if Bethesda U13B beat Alexandria in MLSNext league play.

This is pretty much why a showcase is simply pointless now. There are other ways that cost less to get a game on film to send to a coach. It doesn’t make sense to pay a the money to enter a showcase where D1 can’t go to and the burden is still on the player to send film anyways.
Any league game provides the same opportunity to send film. Any scrimmage provides the same opportunity to send film.
And frankly, D1 coaches have seen enough film, they now want to see kids play in person. Any showcase attended before the dead period is ended is now mostly a waste of time and money. Clubs can simply call each other up, schedule scrimmages and accomplish the same thing for much less money.
Let me guess, you are either a BRYC or McLean parent on the outside of the VDA tournament looking in.
I'll be there and I still feel this way. It is a terrible waste of team fees. Until D1 coaches can actually attend in person anything that bills itself as a showcase is useless.
OK. But I'm still wondering...about how many kids per team actually reached out to these non-D1 coaches before hand and introduced themselves, etc.? I'm curious if this is happening and especially if no D1 coaches will be there. Thanks

This would lead me to believe sending any film to a coach you've already reached out to is better than nothing. Sitting at home is worse than playing against very high caliber local competition, which this showcase is doing. FTW

Option A: play any game possible with a chance a D1 coach watches the live stream and/or game footage
Option B: sit at home
Not all games will be streamed and VDA is not bragging about ANY games being streamed.
We heard games will be taped so players can send footage to colleges after the tournament. Not streamed but taped which is just as good in my opinion.
And any plan old league game can be filmed and sent to coaches as well. Even a scrimmage for the cost of a ref. The whole point of a showcase is essentially the convenience factor for college coaches. If the coaches can’t come then what’s the point? Just arrange your own scrimmage or send leave game film instead of paying for a showcase that coaches can’t even attend. $800 per team down the drain for nothing.
“Setting up scrimmages” is harder than you’d think. There will be college coaches there. There were coaches at the Florida ecnl showcase.
Is this true...Someone told me that college coaches do NOT watch teams play. They watch individuals play. So if your kid wants a coach to watch them at one of these tournament/events, they need to send that coach a head of time...film of them, their grades, the time of their game, what field they are playing on, what team they are on, and their number, etc. This way the coach has a list of those players interested in THEIR program that are playing in each game THEY are attending and this way the coach can pay special attention to those players. Is this true? It makes sense to me because why would a college coach just watch a game? I mean, say a college coach just watches a game and likes a particular kid. Is that college coach supposed to contact that player's club coach, ask about grades, ask about their interest in playing college soccer, ask about their interested in their program, etc etc. Seems like it would be horribly inefficient and a possible colossal waste of the college coach's time if the kid wasn't even interested in that school or doesn't have the grades for that school, etc. but is just playing because their team is in this showcase. Thanks
This is true, the coach is there to watch the player, not to watch a team or a game.
So for this tournament, how many kids your kid's team have reached out ahead of time to a coach who is attending and provided all this information to a coach that is attending? Has your kid done this? If not, is your focus on getting film from this to send to coaches who are not attending?
