Mercedes G wagon is probably the worse ride I’ve ever experienced. Went on a double date with friends and sat in the back. I had to go to the dentist because I chipped half my teeth! Horrible driving vehicle.

Update. A friend of mine gave me a contact who owns an auto boutique consignment dealership in an upscale area. He charges a $2500 flat fee and advertises all over the US with professional photography included. I googled his business and was extremely impressed with their 5 star reviews and no negatives. $200 for full detail and reasonable contract with no hidden costs and nothing shady. He told me a 10% commission was ridiculous. I’m meeting him next week to drop car.

That's a really bad idea. Both you and the prospective charity would be far better off with you selling the car (just pay the 10% commission) and then you could donate the proceeds.

If you donate it, it will be sold for far less than it should, meaning the charity will get less than it would otherwise and your right off will be less. (They changed it a while back so that you only get the actual sale price, not a more amorphous idea of FMV because so many people abused it.)

The only one who would win by doing that is the person (likely a dealer) who would get a good deal on the car.

Donate and take the write off. You both will feel better about yourselves.

I bought a high end car. The seller met me at my bank, Chase. He signed over title and I did certified check right in front of him. Deal was on camera. I had already called police to verify car not stolen and no liens and as mechanic checked

Afterwards I went straight to motor vehicles and I guess he deposited check. I came back the next morning and put my new plates on car.

I find scammers buyers or sellers don’t want to meet on camera at a bank.

But how much work are you willing to put in? The option that will net you the most involves the most work and most risk.

Are you willing to post it somewhere and have people come check out the car? What will you do if you get a lot of people interested in looking at a cool car who would never have the funds to purchase it?

Are you at all concerned about getting robbed or otherwise treated by a stranger? Does Covid impact your willingness to meet with people?

Or give you a bad check. Or rob you after giving you cash. (Most random transactions between strangers are cash, but you are talking big cash here.) The chance of any these things happening aren't great, but it isn't inconceivable. I'd honestly be more concerned about the hassle and time waste than getting cheated.

Not having to worry about these things would make me willing to pay a reasonable commission to someone to deal with it. Do you think you could negotiate the 10% commission down somewhat?
