My parents are 5’4” and 5’8” and my brother is over 6 feet. My DH’s family is similar-his parents are average height and he’s 6’3” and his brother is even taller. We have tall uncles. Genetics are weird.

Folks, ignore PP.

Height matters. It just does, OK?

especially for boys

I am a short guy coming from short parents. My dad is 5'5 my mum 5'1 my younger brother 5'3. Then there is me I am 30 my height is 4'10. I am similar to my grandfather he was barely 5'0. We are the only 2 under 5'0. Lucky for me I found a lovely woman who took me for what I am. My wife is 5'7 the thing is we were at school together and she always swerved me. Then when I was out with my mates we would be up at the bar. I would always use a stool as I am always having to keep looking up. I mean these bar stools are over 3'0. I can't move them so a friend does it. Then 1 holds the stool so I can climb up. This night she came with her 2 friends. She came to the bar with her friends and when she saw me she said how did you get up there. I decided to go and sit at a table with her friends and mine. Now this suited me as then my height wasn't too noticeable. Now her friends were both 5'5 and then the music came on. My friends asked her 2 if they wanted to dance then they went off together. Now my friends were nearly 6 '0. After 10 mins I asked her and she said yes. So there we are on the dancefloor. She is 5'7 and me 4'10. Which I thought was quite a difference in 9 ins. She just had flat shoes on so lucky me. When a slow song came on I had to say no as I would have felt smothered. I mean I was near her breast so abit intrusive I thought. That was the only downfall dancing to a slow song. When we got married I couldn't get out of the also dance then so I went for it. I decided to place my head on the side instead of front forward. Out photos were about weird because of the height. I didn't want no stool with the families we decided for me to be Infront of her on the steps. Si I'm standing in front of her the someone suggested for me to go on the step behind her. We have a 20 yrs old son and he is 5'2 and our 17 yrs old daughter is 5'5. Even now photos are still weird for me.so it goes me my wife on my left my son as he is shorter than his sister and she is on my wife's side. The main plus is I love her height and she comes in handy as we work together in our company. She always as to get the files on top shelves . I like going shopping with her as she as no trouble reaching things. I tend to get the lower shelves she does the higher ones . We still manage the cuddles though mostly sitting down though. The best one I like is when she lets me get cuddles when she is sitting on the bed and I get to face her. It is never awkward I can then get the kisses and cuddles as I am at the right height. The thing she gets most fun out of is we have a big wardrobe with the full length mirror she loves facing the mirror with me Infront of her still with my head in her breast and she takes pics on her phone. Then she puts on her heels which take her to 5'11. That's when she decides to lift me up to her height. No big deal though..

Both parents matter: "Genetics plays the biggest role in a person's final adult height. The best predictor of height is parents' height or, more specifically, midparental height. You can calculate midparental height by adding the mother's and father's height in inches. Add 5 more inches for boys or subtract 5 inches for girls. Divide by two. Most children will reach an adult height within 2 inches of mid-parental height." https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/childs-height-at-age-2-may-predict-adult-height/

All genes are a crapshoot. All features are random or even a mix.

Dad is 6'1, mom is 5'5. Three girls ended up: 5'6, 5'7 and 5'9, getting taller from oldest to youngest.

DH is 6'1 and his ex is 5'2. Their son is 6'4.

Same in mine and my H's family. We're a little bit over average and H's sister is 6 ft tall and my brother is 6'4.

Anonymous wrote:Lol no, that’s definitely not how it works. Scientifically, it’s a combination of parents’ heights (adjusting for gender), and also grandparent height factors in. Anecdotally, I know far more families where it has gone the other way (short mom/tall dad = tall daughters/short sons). Also, there are genetic flukes (my best friend’s family growing up had two boys and a girl - girl is 5’3 as an adult, one brother 5’8 and the other 6’4). You just never know.

Dh is 6’3 and his sister and mom are 5’1
