I don't think you're right on the bolded statement. I'm pretty deep into the 1D and Larry Stylinson fandom and they all root for Larry. The teenage girls don't want to have sex with Harry or Louis. They want to be best friends with them.
Truth though! The hottest fandom ships are all M/M. Dissertations have been written about it. And not just American teen girls. Millennial and Gen X equivalent Japanese women read more gay male romances than other genres.

Aren't they finished filming the movie though? It would then be in post-production for a while, right? Then they'd roll it out this summer - that timing seems to make sense.
