The scariest part of this is how loving and caring a family can be and yet it can still happen. We like to pray we are doing all we can for our children and yet there is only so much one can do when depression hits like this. My prayers go out to them.

I found this so profoundly sad. I had to run and hide in the bathroom earlier after reading the obituary, as I was moved to tears. DD suffers from depression and this is one of deepest fears. I can’t imagine what he and his family are going through.

I wish I could bring their beloved son back to them. It goes to show- depression is such a terrible, insidious, deadly disease and sometimes no amount of love or help can cure it. It’s so awful. I pray Tommy’s soul is finally at peace. He obviously felt very deeply and was very moved by the suffering in the world.

That literally moved me to tears. I applaud the Raskins for sharing this. Depression can come cloaked in many forms and overtake even those who have successful seemingly perfect lives filled with love.
