FWIW my friend’s husband did a similar surprise dog move and she grew to love the dog and was devastated when he passed.

What information would redeem a person who gets a pet without the consent of the other spouse then doesn’t exercise or train that pet or even send it to doggie daycare? What could suggest that he would be an involved parent?
Sorry, but I just don't go around believing everything that someone tells me over the internet without hearing the other persons version.
