I was happy to change for him, even though it’s constantly mispronounced. Now we are splitting I truly can’t wait to change it back !

I grew up with a highly unusual last name that people always managed to butcher. My husband’s last name is super common and easy to spell and pronounce. When we got married, I kept my last name, but added his. I don’t hyphenate; my legal name just has 2 surnames. For the sake of everyday convenience, I just introduce myself as MyFirstName HisLastName. I think of it as an invisibility cloak. There’s only one MyFirstName MyMaidenName, but there are thousands of women named MyFirstName HisLastName. Using that name is as good as being anonymous.
