I don't hang stockings for adults. But I do buy myself a few gifts. My husband does buy me something, but I figure I might as well wrap the items i buy for myself. Four books this year.

I always buy everything for the stockings. Normally everyone gets a couple things from the same categories. For example everyone is getting socks -
Smart wool for me, compression ones for DH and the kids get something holiday themed. This year we're all also getting something to drink from - DH is getting a hydro flask, I'm getting a coffee mug I really wanted and kids are getting star wars Tervis tumblers. Everyone also gets the same hand sanitizer, chap stick and candy. My parents normally provide gift cards for everyone's stocking too.

I buy candy for all the stockings and include mine. My husband will add a few things, but I bought some new wool socks I can add if my stocking seems too empty.

Mine does and he's 17. He already put wrapped gifts under the tree for DH and me and cards!

My sister and I would always send small things for each other. We didn't bother this year so I bought a Christmas ornament and eye cream and tossed it in there.

I always fill my own stocking: chocolates, Altoids, nice hand cream, cute socks—the same kinds of things I buy everyone else. Sometimes there’s an extra surprise or two in there on Christmas morning, which I appreciate.

DH has always filled mine, and MIL adds stuff.

I was asking how much they cost because the pp said they have to save up. If they have to save up to buy a dog how will they afford it when they have to feed it and take it to the vet?
do you guys not save up (or budget) for anything—vacations, car, any of purchase out of the ordinary?

I stuff my own stocking too. I’m doing everyone else’s and the kids are prime Santa years but they would catch on that mine is very different from the others. It’s also a chance to treat myself to some things since I’m doing all the shopping for everyone else anyway.
