From what others wrote about acceptance letter, 8700 apps, 11% accepted. That's about a 19% increase in apps.
That amount of increase is surprising to me, for a school that, unlike other top schools, is not really test-optional and doesn't seem to be planning in-person classes anytime soon.
Probably the most selective school that offers EA so maybe kids who weren’t ready to try ED anywhere because of inability to visit went ahead and put in an EA app to Georgetown
Will be interesting to see app trends when ED schools start to release that info

Wondering if that was a mistake now too.
I honestly wish that ED had been rethought across the board this year. Seems like plenty of kids were not able to make an ED choice, so I hope it doesn't greatly disadvantage students this cycle.
The experts were all saying ED full pay applications are the path to acceptance at reach schools this year. With challenged economic/business models and significant drop in full pay international students, American Universities and colleges are poised for the biggest re-stratification of their enrollment in decades. Ultimately a detriment to society, but an opportunity for affluent families.
Except for the need blind schools.
Plus, somewhere I read that international apps ended up increasing, unexpectedly (maybe due to test optional). I'll try to find it...

Anonymous wrote:My kid didn’t apply ED because he didn’t feel he knew enough (because of Covid canceling almost all visits) to have a first choice
I hugely regret that right now. Feels like colleges are looking to lock in as much of their class as possible in this uncertain time and seeing acceptances everywhere: Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, BC, Carnegie Mellon
Never seen anything quite like it
