I'm 42 and in the best shape i've been in for years.... and i am LOVING high waisted jeans and short tops. Or tops i tuck into my high waist jeans. I'm pulling off a distinct late 80s early 90s vibe, and it makes me feel super happy.

I agree with you on mocknecks and turtlenecks. They don't make anyone look better.
I don't like loose crop tops, even slightly cropped. It's not about the skin showing, same if you had a shirt under. It just looks weird. It's not flattering on anyone.
I’m small boned with small shoulders and hour glass shape. I adore huge puff sleeves and boxy crop tops.

I see a lot of overweight women rocking the high waisted look and I think they look great! I say that as an overweight woman. Having long legs really helps. My specific belly/paunch combined with my long torso means it’s not a good look for me.

Waterfall cardigan or longer cardigan with a winter jacket over it that’s not long enough to cover the cardigan. Hate seeing the cardigan dangling beyond the coat. So tacky!

Epaulets on anything other than a trench coat. Nonfunctioning decorative buttons (jacket sleeves okay) and pockets.
No pockets on jackets, pants, skirts, or dresses are usually a deal killer for me unless there is a really special reason for otherwise buying the item.

Animal print and booties. I despise animal print on anyone. If you are not the animal in question, and not actually wearing it's skin (which isn't a good look either), it just looks ridiculous.
