I had several chemical pregnancies/early miscarriages trying to get pregnant with #2 at 34 and #3 at 36. Like a total of 9 trying to get pregnant those times. None at all getting pregnant with #1 at 28.

I month. I was also 36, it it was my second.

+1. I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility my first time around, and found out that my cycles were really predictable, so I pretty much knew exactly when I'd get pregnant. Made sure to get it done at that time, and that was that.

Fertility jumps off a cliff at 40. Had first at 35 within 3 months of trying. Started trying at 40 and miscarriages and IVF with no success.

Baby 1 conceived at 34 took 4 months.
Baby 2 conceived at 37 took 4 months.

I have had friends with fertility problems much earlier. It’s extremely individual.

1 year for baby #1 at 26 and 9 years until baby #2 at 35. Man, they did not tell me life would be this hard. Miscarriages, and Chronic illness and just very hard times in life between the two. I was told I was infertile and believed it until the miscarriages started at 32, 33 and at 34 I lost a 2nd trimester baby that left me suicidal. I had baby #2 and I promptly had DH get a vasectomy.

the 35 year old thing is based on data from the 1800s. Google it, you'll find the atlantic article if someone hasn't already posted it.

I got pregnant at age 36 a month after we decided to half-assedly start trying, and at age 39, two months after we decided to start trying.

18 months of active trying + 2 rounds of clomid to conceive #1 at 36. 2 months of active trying (and no meds) to conceive #2 at 38.

Conceived first at 35 (delivered at 36) first month of trying. Currently 37 (would deliver at 38) and in first month of trying for number two. Fingers crossed it happens quickly!

Conceived first at 34. Went off pill and never got my period, so took after 6 months took clomid to trigger ovulation and got pregnant immediately. Second pregnancy while TTC all numbers were great, cycle was regular etc but I wasn’t getting pregnant. Tried clomid and it didn’t work. I had an HSG and it showed no problems, but I did conceive right after it at age 37 (38 when I delivered) after 14 months of trying.

It took 1 month after going off birth control to conceive my baby at 37 and I know many other similar stories (and then an accidental 4th at 43!)

What? This is insanity, sure some woman are fertile until their mid forties but many are not, even if they have previously given birth. Read up on secondary infertility.

That's the exception, not the rule.

To the PP who has had two losses this year, have a think if you are doing anything different - are you taking an anti-depressant for example, or any other medicine/supplement? Anti-depressants can cause heart problems in fetuses and so many women take them and don't realize. Is your DH working a lot with his laptop on his lap? The heat will cause his sperm to die or not be as high quality.

There is no medical evidence that suggests you *will* be fertile until your mid-40's if you've already had a child. Mid 30's maybe, even then it's "probably will be" not "will be", but the overwhelming majority of women are almost completely out of good eggs by early 40's. That's just biology. There is an ENORMOUS difference in fertility and egg quality between 37 and 40 and 43.
