I think this is a good point to bring up. What does your fiancee do for a living? If she is a teacher in a lower-income or working-class school district or a social worker working in foster care, for example, I would think twice about wearing a ring like that. Otherwise, I think it's fine.

No mean girl. I’m speaking as someone who has a family diamond ring over two carats (large enough that it slides around my finger when I wear it-sigh- so annoying), and two more smaller diamond rings, an emerald and diamond ring etc that I keep in a safe deposit box.

They're very, very common if you have a big stone.
It's a little ball that your jeweler soders on the inside of your ring to prevent it from sliding around on it's own -- it also helps the ring feel more snug.

My jeweler placed two on the inside of my ring 20 years ago & they've been a godsend (I can still turn my ring towards the inside of my palm if need be, it doesn't prevent that).
My ring hasn't turned once since then.

You should wear your rings -- keeping them in a safety deposit box doesn't allow you to enjoy them. I plan on handing mine down to my daughter's as well, but I'm going to wear them first... they want to be shown off, lol.

My husband has been asking me to ‘upgrade‘ for years and I refuse! 2ct is too big on my small fingers and I love my under 1ct that he bought me when we were 23 and living in a little studio apartment. It reminds me of how far we’ve come together. Obviously, though, I’m sentimental and not a jewelry person. I think it all depends on lifestyle and personal style. Whatever makes her feel loved and confident.

Depends completely on cut, hand/finger size and personal style. I love my e ring and all but I never wear it as I prefer the understated look of a simple thin band. I rarely notice anyone else’s ring. Also, with so many stimulants and whatnot I never assume anyone’s financial situation etc based on the size of their ring.

Actually round is the best cut for brilliance with all of the Cs perfected; both of those cuts have a wider surface area, which doesn’t allow foe the same brilliance but can change the impression. Oval does the same. You lose sparkle when you start changing from a classic round. Round, Square/Princess are the best for capturing all qualities of a good atone in that order. But a 3ct emerald or oval cut will look larger than a 3ct square or a 3ct round. Wont glimmer and you will see any atone flaws easily, but I’d you’re going for size you can get creative.

One other downside with having a large ring. People look at it, they look at you, and immediately the cost of whatever you want to do jumps 30% in an estimate. It was annoying, that is part of why I would turn my ring to my palm in some situations, or only wear the pave band (also didn’t like stones fall out easily).

I love the elegance and sophistication of a beautiful, single, gold band. Put my engagement ring money towards a nice set of earrings, or a tennis bracelet. A necklace with all of our birthstones.

My 1st husband I had a 3ct princess. It was a lot and while I was comfortable wearing it, I would quickly twist the Diamond to my palm. I remember someone gawking at my ring at a stoplight.

If I ever remarry, I would be perfectly content with a simple wedding band and nothing else. No diamonds, nothing ostentatious, maybe something engraved or with a history.

Next to that, I am 100% comfortable w moissanite, or even my birthstone, which is aquamarine.
