OP that’s fine if your wife wants the PBK one for the style of it. Just don’t deceive yourselves that the quality is there, or that it’s eco friendly. PB/PBK was higher end years ago. It’s made in China crap now, and overpriced (with bad customer service) for what it is. I had an Oeuf crib that was expensive but lasted through three kids and then sold for a decent amount on Craigslist. Get whatever crib you want for style, up to whatever price you can afford. We splurged (too much, in retrospect, as others on here have said— this stage is short and us having 3 kids to use the stuff barely made it worthwhile. But you could not have convinced me of that w/ my first as I was also rather high maintenance and ecstatic to be pregnant.). But don’t kid yourself that PBK is remotely fancy, quality, or eco friendly.

I'm the PP. They go to their rooms for quiet time every day for an hour. They don't nap anymore so they play unsupervised. Sometimes they bring stickers or whatever. There are a lot of hills and I'm not dying on this one. I did it to my (cheap) childhood furniture, and want to give my kids some degree of autonomy over what they do in their bedrooms. We have lots of high quality furniture in the house and spend enough energy policing that

My wife chose the darker color because they gray was too light and she hates white. We will keep looking but people rave about these. We have two friends who bought the furnitures and it lasted them through 2 and 3 kids.

I would do the opposite -- spend money on a quality dresser and nightstand because those will be used throughout their entire childhood, while the crib will only be used for 1-3 years.That's what we did and we have no regrets.

But trends in furniture finishes change through the years. That’s why so many people choose white furniture. You can buy different colors at different times. OP’s DW doesn’t like white, and he won’t be able to match the brown eight years from now, when DC needs a desk. Much better to get a safe crib, and go cheap on everything else. I never decorated my nursery. The baby made it to four. Now we are going to fix it up when he can appreciate it.
