Just learned that the Maryland tournament our team was supposed to join this weekend is now not allowing teams from outside VA to join.

Mostly, but the 25 max applies outside as well. They could have differentiated. Maybe eventually they will come back and overrule.Gayles like they sometimes do.

Moco council had to vote full order yes or no whether it made sense. One of the council members - said so the large box stores can have over 100+ people but the small business are the ones we are killing. No nuance. No science. But for the good of the public health they voted yes - but Said they hoped - hoped the health department would work out the nuances.

MoCo's focus on outdoor maximum gatherings irrespective of the size of the space is rather puzzling given where we are in the pandemic and all we have learned. Are we really concerned with 26 or 35 or whatnot people gathering at a space like a soccer field that is tens of thousands of square feet? I don't think I am going out on a limb to say that's not what is causing the rise in cases as opposed to restaurants, retail and what's likely most driving it--COVID fatigue and more indoor social gatherings.

Seriously, can anyone with a shred of data or science behind it think we are really making a difference on COVID spread if each team has 1 or 2 subs on the sideline rather than 5? I know the rule is broader than sports but come on ... this is where we are putting our energy?

The order passed today. Not sure how it will be applied to soccer/youth sports games going forward.....

If your kid can't play a whole game they shouldn't be in travel.

Both of you clearly never played competitive soccer...

Or we both played at a very high level and were in good enough shape to play an entire game.

Potentially 4 games in two days? You should have been marathon runners at your undisclosed very high level instead of soccer players.

I'm the pp who claims to have played at a high level. For four games in two days, you do need subs.

For a single youth game (or one on Sat and one on Sun) elite level players should be physically fit enough to play the entire match. Assuming we're talking about the older age groups where players are aspiring (or claim to be) to play in college or perhaps professionally.

REALLY?? It's not about who can play a whole game. What happens if someone gets hurt during the game? At that point you are forced to play a man down...

The same that happens when a player gets hurt and the team has already used all its subs.
