Is your child young? A lot of women get their nose pierced, a super short hair cut, hair dyed, etc. after becoming a mom. Like a weak attempt to become edgy after feeling too mom-ish.

I was thinking this too. OP has she done any other impulsive things? It could be bipolar. Or a midlife crisis/divorce looming. Something is up. I would be on guard until you have more info.

I would feel that my spouse piercing their nipples or genitals without mentioning it to me and not much explanation to be a passive-aggressive sign they aren’t happy.

I personally wouldn't ask my spouse for permission for a piercing, but I would certainly inform them ahead of time.

Here are the first two reasons that come to mind why someone else might not:

1. She might have thought that if she told you, you'd try to talk her out of it, and she didn't want to be persuaded against her decision.

2. Maybe she thought it would be a fun surprise for you.
