F*** off. This is difficult for everyone.

No, it's not. Not by any stretch of the imagination is it "difficult for everyone." Many of us are very happy and contented right now.

If you are very happy and contented by pandemic life, I feel a little bad that your normal life is so boring and mundane. Sounds terrible.

+1. These are the most boring people in the universe, the ones who don't care that they can't see friends because they don't have many, or extended family because they don't get along. What is especially disturbing about it, however, is that they are trying to pretend that this is a "new normal" that we should all adjust to. Sorry, I'm not playing.

No, we understand how deadly and serious COVID is and understand we need to limit contact to keep us and others safe. Your actions are why we cannot return back to school and you are teaching your kids to be selfish, self centered people and that the world revolves around you/them. This is the new normal.

No ma'am, it is not. But you enjoy your basement.

If I had a basement I might enjoy it. Instead I enjoy time with my family. You should try it. Why have kids if you don't like them or want to spend time with them. Hire a nanny for their sake.

DP.

I love my grandmother(replace grandmother with any other person, and the statement still holds) very much. I don't want to spend every hour of my day with her. Why is that so hard to get into your thick skull?

Teens and adults are not peers. It makes perfect sense that they would like to get a break from each other.

Sad for your kids.

Why do people have kids if they only want to spend a few hours a day with them?

This has been happening since forever. It’s normal for kids to spend a lot of time with people besides their parents. “It takes a village”, right?

Sad for the kids. I like mine around.

this is great

It is also true. Anyone who knows a thing about child development in the teen years knows this and should understand it.

And yet, no one can prove it with scientific citations.

You’re just blowing smoke out of your a**.

How about you Google “teenage developmental stages” and find one source that doesn’t talk about the very normal need for kids to establish social and emotional independence from their parents, or their very normal preference for friends/peers over their parents.

The burden of proof is on those who blow smoke out of their a**es.

Love having my teens around. They are self motivated so DL has not been a pain to me. Only thing they want from me is gourmet home cooked meals and snacks and I have no problem keeping it coming.

They are on Facetime and Zoom with their friends every day, also playing video games. Every once in a while they bike together. HS kids so the homework and other stuff is keeping them busy. I love teens! They are so gosh darn funny!!

And I think this is a very selfish view of too many parents.

Nature does not intend for you and your HS senior to be "pals."

Here we go again with “nature.” This thread is really bringing out the dummies.
